The front door finally closes and the voices fade as they move as one noisy, laughing group away from the house. The walls breathe out and I hear the small secret clicks and creaks in the bones of this old home. Quickly now, I must move fast, it’s a tricky little idea that needs my full attention. Soon I am breathing the slow breaths of the utterly immersed, watching with interest as my hands flick and swish paint on paper. This time I will let go and let this handful of flowers fall onto the page however they wish.
