I’ve always found the bush to be a place of pure magic. My Dad was a rockclimber, caver and mad keen bushwalker, so there was no chance I wasn’t going to be exposed to the bush from a very young age - in fact my first outing was 6 weeks old!
You can imagine how a small child's imagination would run to fairys and all sorts of magic when surrounded by forests of ferns and old gnarly moss covered trees! That magic remains and even today I’m happiest in the bush, especially the forests and valleys of the Upper Blue Mountains.
This little spot is called Fern Bower and is on the way down to Leura Forest. It’s a great place to sit and just let the bush wash over you. Often when you’re quiet, a lyrebird or two will happen by, or a bush turkey as was the case on this trip!
