Humility

68.5 x 68.5cm

Acrylic on Canvas

Framed in black float frame

This painting Pride is about self love and self esteem - knowing that we are worthy of making an effort towards , both by ourselves and others. Treat yourself as someone who is worth it & be your own best friend . It sounds easy but it’s often easier to praise or congratulate another, to do a good deed for someone else, but harder to do the same thing for ourselves.

This painting PRIDE is part of a diptych. The other piece is called HUMILITY . Now these are seemingly opposites and of course they can be. But the tenderness and transparency of humility is needed to break down that wall whilst maintaining personal pride , self worth and a sense of inherent value – the kind that let's us know we are worthy of love, worthy of taking caring of.

The bright colours in HUMILITY and PRIDE represent the breakthrough. The soft pinks and whites express the tender parts of the human soul that aren’t readily obvious but upon closer inspection balance out the composition. As they do in the human being. We are not all outward pizzazz and show. We keep our tenderness, our intimacy for our closest relationships , particularly the one we are having with ourselves , which in fact , informs all the others.
