In Tumut River, I set out to capture the serene beauty of a sunlit river under the clarity of midday light. The calm surface of the water mirrors the blue of the sky, gently rippling before cascading over the foreground rocks in a burst of white foam and motion. I was drawn to the interplay between the tranquil reflections and the energetic flow of the water — a contrast that reveals both stillness and vitality within the same moment. Seeing the rocks glimmering beneath the surface became a key focus, as I continue my pursuit of traditional realism and the challenge of portraying light and transparency within moving water.
The Tumut River is one of my most inspiring and frequently visited locations. Its ever-changing beauty, so close to where I live, continues to influence and shape the evolution of my landscape paintings.
